BC Bike Race is no joke! 7 days, roughly 250km and almost 7.000m of climbing. 800 riders from 35 countries took on the challenge. Among them Celeste Pomerantz, having never competed in a XC race before.
"That could be fun! :)" That's exactly what Celeste responded when she first got asked if she'd like to join BCBR. Join her adventure on the beautiful trails on Vancouver Island.
"BCBR is something I never ever considered doing. I was quite jaded about XC racing and riding in general. Basically I thought XC riding was just a bunch of cardio kings and queens wearing spandex who didn’t enjoy going downhill.
I could not have been more wrong.
What originally piqued my interest was the adventure aspect of riding different trail networks everyday and the challenge of pushing your limits for more than a couple days in a row. What I thought was going to be an absolute shit show of a week turned into one of the most fun weeks of riding bikes I’ve ever had. The trails were superb, the other racers and riders were all amazing, I made new friends, and I got to experience how my body pushed through seven days of full throttle effort.
Looking back, I am so thankful for the experience and honestly really hoping to participate next year and perhaps for years to come."
